Fall Fishing

I was able to make it out fishing a few times this fall. I chased bull trout a couple of times and also fished for cutthroats in the backcountry, and for rainbows on the Crow.

The weather was awesome throughout September and most of October. The fall colours were amazing this year. Temperatures have cooled down considerably since last week and there is snow on the ground. Winter is just around the corner. Most of the rivers and streams in SW Alberta will close on Tuesday, but at least there will still be a few places to go fishing in the coming months. We’ll see what happens. Below are some photos of my fall fishing excursions.

Awesome photos Vic! I noticed in the last photo, you are fishing an Epic rod. How do you like it? I built an 8 ft 5 weight during Covid. I fished it in the evenings on my last trip to Crowsnest Pass. Hopefully I’ll be back again soon!!!

      Hi Brian,

I’m glad you like the photos. You are right, the rod is an Epic. It’s the Packlight 5-piece, 7-1/2′ 4-wt rod. I got it late in the season and only used it a few times. I like it. I love the colour. It casts nice. I had to remember to slow down my casts, just like with my cane rod. It’s been a long time since I fished a glass rod. I’m looking forward to using it more next season. Thanks for commenting!

        Hi Bob,

Fall went by fast this year. I will have to revisit some of these places next year. Maybe earlier in the season. We’ll have to get out together. Glad you like the pics. Thanks for commenting!
