I was going through some of my photos last week when I came across several that I took a few years ago. A couple of these were taken while snowshoeing with friends on the outskirts of Bellevue, on a snow-covered ridge overlooking Turtle Mountain and the Frank Slide.
It was a picture-perfect winter morning. The sun was shining and the sky was clear. The only tracks in the fresh snow covering the ground were the ones left by our snowshoes. We followed the ridge westward for a short distance then dropped in to visit Connelly Lake.
Another day in the same year, I climbed Iron Ridge, west of Coleman, and was rewarded with a beautiful view of Crowsnest Mountain. Its towering peaks and steep flanks were covered with fresh snow that glistened in the late afternoon sun.
